The Machining Stage in the CNC Machining Process [2011-01-17]

The final stage in the CNC machining process is the machining itself. CNC machining is basically the manual machining activity. This is the part where actual machination happens.
This is when the holes are drilled in objects. This is where art is carved onto a block of wood. This is the where the actual transformation of an object happens. It is when raw material is turned into a finished product.

The CNC machine is controlled by a computer. The CNC controller dictates the instructions that the actual machine has to perform. The actual machine may be a plasma cutter, a wood cutter, tube bender, or a carver.
These machines are following specific instructions from a computer down to the last detail. The exact measurements from the width, height, location, and so on and so forth are all put into action by the machine based on the CNC machining computer’s instructions.
If you want to witness the actual machination of the CNC machining process then now is the time to watch carefully.

When it comes to CNC machining, safety always comes first. There are a lot of hazards in the CNC machining work place. One of the main dangers in the CNC machining workplace is heat. This does not pertain to ordinary heat but the type of heat that can cause fire and burns to humans.
Make sure that you have coolants around. If you’re using a machine that can heat up very quickly due to friction then you’ll need coolants to keep it from burning and causing fire. You must also make sure that your workplace has enough ventilation so that there is no trapped heat in your area. You do not want to end up suffocating while working.

Another thing that you have to consider in the final stage of the CNC machining process is the debris that flies around. Certain chips from wood or metal can turn into really fast flying projectiles. When cutting is done, these chips can fly around your workplace and injure someone.
You can get punctured, blinded, or even killed with flying debris like this. If you aren’t careful enough then you’re going to be brought to the hospital in no time. In order to manage the unwanted flying debris, it is advisable that you wear protective gear at all times.
Have a protective mask, helmet, and suit at all times. Wear steel toed boots if you can. Wear protective gloves too.

The machining stage in the CNC machining process is the final stage but it is also the most dangerous stage. If you want to enjoy the fruits of your labour and if you want to appreciate the beauty of your final product then make sure that you take care of your self in the CNC machining process.
You may wreak your nerves and stretch your brain during the design phases and the programming phases but during the actual manufacturing of the product, keep in mind that you may lose an actual arm and a leg if you’re not careful.
